| Lord Of The Rings - The Return Of The King (R2) ================================================================================== The source from which all the backups in these tests were generated was created with DVD Shrink v3.1. It was a 1:1 copy of the movie title, using "No Compression", including one AC3 5.1 and one subpicture stream. The subsequent backups then had to apply a compression of 40% or thereabout (DVD Shrink "Ratio" was 60.9%). The compilations were then made by using DVD Shrink "Re-author" feature, using "No Compression". The audio and subpicture streams were also removed so as to make the compilations smaller in size. Where applicable, the highest quality settings were used in all the softwares. DVD2DVD-R is a "front-end" for the only encoder in these tests: CCE Basic. It was set to 2-pass variable bitrate (VBR), and is expected to yeld much better results than transcoders. All the softwares reached their target sizes, except Instant Copy 8 which was about 4% undersized. I do not have the exact time taken by each software to make the backups which these clips were compiled from, but DVD2One and DVDCopy2 took about 30 minutes, IC8 and DVD Shrink v3.2b3 2:30 hours, and DVD2DVD-R/CCE 8 hours (give or take a few minutes). In each of the following compilations (1.5-3.5MB), the first clip will be from the backup generated by DVD Shrink v3.2 beta 3, followed by the one generated by the software named in the link.
